Graha means 'that which seizes or grasps' - referring to how planets influence our lives. Vedic astrology uses nine grahas: Sun (Surya), Moon (Chandra), Mars (Mangal), Mercury (Budha), Jupiter (Guru), Venus (Shukra), Saturn (Shani), and the shadow planets Rahu and Ketu (lunar nodes).
